I would suggest converting a closet to be his room or making a large cage and partioning him off from the snakes (so he doesn't get spooked). Let him free roam when you are home and he has already gone to the bathroom. This is what many people do and it works fine. I never trust my lizards enough for free roaming all the time...they find trouble and won't stay in designated basking areas when they get bored so I cannot guarantee that they would get enough UV light. You can make a cage or area where the poop doesn't slide on the floor. Free roaming isn't really the best solution in many cases. If he has a nice big enclosure and gets free time out of it on a daily basis... he will be fine.
