HELP my iggy hates me:(

I rescued a 3 foot iggy from my animal shelter in town. He is in a big home made cage but he seems to do nothen but hiss and wip his tail at me THAT HURTS but i have tried every thing to tame him in the book. PLEASE HELP ME
