You can avoid the problem of overheating the tank by several options:
1 place only part of the tank in direct sunlight, if you have a mesh top on your aquarium the the heat will only affect the side the sun hits.
2. similarly if you have a section in the cage that is cave-like, or a shelf for him to get under for a cool zone, this will do the trick.
The direct sunlight is definitely good for the mood of your iggy, as mine tries to get there every time he wants, and is more docile after a few sun hours.
