Here is the background to my question. I have two ig's Kineta
who is 1.5 year old female and Iktomi, a 3 year old male.
About a week ago, my male stopped eating in his usual
voracious way and is bashing into his cage walls. Kineta
is eating anything in sight and sometimes will plant herself
atop the food bowl and guard it.
We originally had sand as a substrait, but have switched back
to the barkamulch they were used to. He did begin to ingest water today
which he had not been doing for the past week. I am very concerned about him.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I live in Oregon and it has turned a bit cold
here lately. Iktomi is roaming about the apartment when I let him out rather than
going to his usualy perch atop the speakers about six feet up.
Up until a week ago, Iktomi was a contented, well-fed ig. He has dropped about 1/3 of
his base weight. Kineta (the female) seems to have found it.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated and thank you so much in
advance.
