the only and best advise i have to give you is to find a vet who is a reptile vet and is familiar with iguanas .... i am finding out the hard way how important that is ... just general knowledge and willingness to"take a look and see what i can do" isn't gonna get it ....
my hubby called every vet in the area to find one for iZ ... so even if no one on the list is close enough to you, you could still call them and ask if they know of anyone in your area ....
it doesn't sound like your situation is an emergency (but i was wrong about iZ's tail .... so ....) so maybe you could just take a deep breath and spend the day on the phone, searching and researching vets and find one that KNOWS .....
topical Baytril does sound odd .... but there are so many kinds of meds and sooo many uses that maybe we just haven't heard of that one????? i would keep up with what you've been doing until you see another vet ....
keep searching .... i've lost count on how many vets i've been thru and it is VERY frustrating!!!! but i think i may have found THE ONE (i hope i hope) ... now, if i can manage that in Iowa, i have the highest hopes for you in New York! (the list for your state is ALOT longer, so if nothing else, you've got alot more people to ask!)
