This is a long story so I'll try and be as brief as possible. There are really 2 problems. Approx. 2mths ago I noticed a small blister on my poor iggy's mouth. Oh no I thought, Mouth Rot. I began treating it as such by cleaning with peroxide and using a product called rid rot. After about a week it was better but still there. Well, I awoke one saturday morning to discover a huge blister on his side. It looked like a burn and i just freaked out. There is no way it could be a burn. He cannot reach his lights in any way shape or form. Its just not possible. I spent an hour trying to get in to see a vet. My friend is a holistic vet but was booked all day. Eventually I found someone to see me but, didn't know his Ig knowledge. I had no choice. He took a look and seemed to know what he was doing. Definately mouth rot he said and as for the other swelling, its an abcess. He removed the dead tissue, gave him a shot of amoxicillin, some liquichlor ointment and some amoxidrops to be taken orally for 2 weeks. Since then I've gone from the amox.to iodine and finaly Baytril from my vet friend. The thing is she told me to apply topically. Is this right.Everything seems to be keeping the rot from spreading but not getting rid of it. Hes eating fine, very active good color etc. What next???? I'm not convinced its mouth rot. I've heard references to something called Blister disease. Has anyone heard of this, what is it, could this be my problem? I'm located in rockland county, New York so if anyone knows of a good herp vet in this area please tell me. I can't find one I like. Don't want to hurt my friends feelings by questioning the baytril topically but I thought it was an internal medecine. Sorry this is soooo long but I'm very worried about "Dude". Any feed back greatly appreciated.
