Iguanas are so easy to fall in love with. Perhaps that's why I currently have two of them right now. I have had Iguanas for several years, I have had them from birth to death and have breeded them. I love them so much I have an iguana tatoo on my right foot. Your situation is not too uncommon. And most likely it could have been a combination of several things. Most likely your pet was ill from the start. Being outdoors on warm day will not hurt thrm unless they are put in an enclosed area. Like a fish tank with a glass or plastic lid, where air could not cirulate. Iguanas are warm weather creatures. That's why you find them in the southern and dry areas. But they do need to breath. In fact iguanas do require a certain amount of heat to survive. That's why a heating rock is highly recomended. They need the heat to digest their food.
