Hi!
Out of cuiousity, I have been reading some web pages dealing with the Y2K 'crisis that
is supposed to happen. Many people are predicting a complete breakdown of our
economic system(s), etc. They also predict that the electricity, gas, etc. will also be gone
for a time. Now, I don't believe that we will all immediately be thrown back into the
1800's, but it has gotten me to thinking. What would I do if the gas and electric were shut
off (or failed) in the winter? I have a fireplace, so my family and I (along with the warm
blooded animals) would be OK, but what about my turtles and Iguana? We have several
large tanks that house a good number of water turtles. Short of putting them into many
buckets and keeping them next to the fireplace, I do not know how I would keep them
heated. The Iguana would also be a problem. I would hate to sit back and watch all my
reptiles die due to the cold, but if there was an area wide power failure, there isn't a
whole lot of options. Has anyone been through a prolonged power failure or have any
ideas? Thanks!
