These are pix of my "love bite" from Bug last September. This is from a 4.5 lb iguana in breeding season. My fault, should have been more careful, etc. Happened in an eyeblink, and blood flew everywhere. The pictures were taken about a week after the bite. I didn't have it stitched, and probably should have. The only thing that stopped the teeth was bone.

This is the top of my thumb, and the bite isn't too deep here, because the knuckle stopped it. However, it pierced the joint capsule, and I still have disability in the joint. I'm not sure it'll ever be the same.

This is the underside, which should have been stitched. The day after the bite, this looked like I had been cut with tiny pinking shears. Only the bone stopped this. I suspect that some of the disability is tendon damage here. At any rate, look at this, and then decide for yourself what a mature, 20 lb iguana like Draggo (my post from last week)could do in similar circumstances.

Without regard to how much we may love them...be careful with them, as they are wild animals, and will remain unpredictable......

By the way, you should have seen the startled look of distaste on his face. Poor ol' Bug was sick to his stomach for a couple of days afterward. He isn't used to protein in his diet.....
