The rest of the story goes something like this...

This girl actually got this ig FROM a vet (actually a vet tech) who himself had taken it from an unfit keeper. AND she (the keeper) had taken the animal back to the same vet when the skin progressed.

The vet (tech) kept the ig for a week and got rid of the little bugs and told the girl that he wasn't sure what the cause was but that it would ivariably take some time to heal. The vet tech is a very qualified reptile guy and I trust him very much and when I talked to him about it, he said the same thing as me, "I've never seen such as this". He stills thinks the skin condition (and believe me, it looks WORSE in person) is something from the mites (or chiggers as I think). IN short he thinks the only thing is to see if the wounds heal on its own. Now there is without a doubt SOMEONE in the world who knows more than this vet to be and I but where is he/she?

And emphatically NOT to defend the previous owner, but she did tell me that she's tried many things (for the mites and the condition) and that nothing seemed to work. And after a week in my care, one of the wounds seemed to be drying up per the treatment in the previous post, but then a day or two later, it started oozing again. But I'm still pretty optimistic about this ig...as I told the previous owner, "As long as she (the ig) is eating and pooping ok, there's at least a chance that she can recover.

But the reality is, that IF this poor ig quits eating, crapping, etc. I think the best thing is to euthanize it...and this vet tech agrees with me and offered to do it at no charge.

We'll see, gotta go let the ig soak in some sun.

By the way, the ONLY logical thing that I can think of that could've caused such wounds is a burn of some sort...the previous owner gave me some sort of blue light that she said she used and I've never used these myself so I am not using this. OR it's possible that it's some sort of chemical burn from some of the crappy products that's out there...products that are probably researched about as much as I research which pair of underwear to put on every morning...

or at least every OTHER morning... :)

Thanks again.
Jeremy Clark (JC)
