TAMING QUESTION...IMPORTANT!!!!!!Am I doing something wrong?

I have been wrapping my ig in a towel when I hold him. he is calmer that way and likes being held then. But if I do it just with my hand he freaks out. Is this ok or am I teaching him a bad habit? Appreciate it!!!
