OK I see where you are going....yes I agree with you that a vitamin, mineral deficiency, or lack of food/malnutrition could cause pica. I apologize to you for having to stress with me what you meant!
Interesting your observations of your iguanas 'spitting' out pine bark. I however am still stuck in my observations of my iguana's chemosensory sticky tongue that does not discriminate in what it picks up with it,not necessarily foraging for non-edible items to eat because of any deficiency,just while smelling around.
