I bought the bulb about 6 or so months ago and am very pleased with it. To be cautious about the distance factor, I also ordered the extender which sits underneath the dome to raise it 7 or so inches. I have had no problems regulating the heat and with the extender has been perfect for our iguana. We also use a nighttime light to keep the tmep around 75 degrees at night. I recently added an airstone with a pump to increase the humidity because our iguana's tail wasn't shedding completely. Since I added the stone, she has successfully shedded on her tail. I took to the Vet (who specializes in reptiles) and he siad that he is a big fan of the Active UV heat bulb. There is a website that you might want to check out. Search on YAHOO for Radical Reptiles. It is a reptile store in Philly whose owner is very knowledgeable with the lgiht bulbs. he is the one that recommended it to me. Lots of luck..........
