I agree that the easiest is to buy melamine and build from that, but it is quite expensive and very heavy!

More cost effective is to but plywood or such and either paint it yourself (liquid plastic - melamine paint) or you can buy sheets of mealime plastic and glue them on.

It is a lot more work to do it yourself, but if inclined, it will be a great deal cheaper, lighter, and just as good quality wise.
