Is the couch scotch guarded???? If it is then use NOTHING but plain old water or you risk making it worse.

If the sofa is not treated then a commercial cleaner should work -several people mentioned ones here. Just be careful that you don't remove the color from the fabric when using one of these -always best to test it in an area not easily seen.

In either case, blot don't rub (rubbing only imbeds it in the fibers worse).

For future think about getting a small wet/dry vac. There are so many on the market and you can pick one up for as little as $30.00 at WalMart/Target. Mom may think this is an excellent investment as well!!!
