it does sound like the end of the tail is gonna need to be amputated and it IS a "simple procedure" IF YOU ARE A TRAINED MEDICAL PERSON / IG-VET ...

the trip to the vet should also include blood work being done ~ you want to make sure that there isn't an infection going on caused by the tail problems ~ blood work can indicate if there's a problem LONG before there is any outward indication of one ... (igs like to hide the fact that they're sick until they are REALLY sick) ...

also ~ take a fresh poop sample to the vet and have it checked for parasites! igs DO have worms until they are treated ~ same as puppies + kittens ~ treating parasites is relatively easy but is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to do ASAP ...

hopefully, the vet is gonna say this ig is healthy other than the tail problem! but with ANY new ig/pet, it is best to have them checked out by a knowledgeable doctor to be sure!!! it IS worth the money to prevent future health problems and worry!!!

best of luck!
Bon.
