Altho its not an emergency its something to worry about and needs to be attended to soon so ig can begin to regenerate healthy tail. Common occurance with green iguanas since they're MOSTLY tail! Its a simple procedure to do at home but must be done correctly otherwise tail continues to necrotize (die) slowly radiating up and into the blood stream...possibly causing a systemic bacterial infection.
If you do seek veterinarian advice on this...DO NOT:
1) let vet put stitches in the stump
2)simply pinch or twist off the dead section of tail
3) Place the ig on Baytril.
Email me for instructions on at home tail tip amputations. Its scary the first time but once done you and your ig will wonder what all the fuss was about ;-)
