You can scan it and then adjust the contrast in a photo shop program or take a photo at the Vet's office while it's on the xray exam board (remember to have the room lights off when doing this).
If your scanner has an adjustable light level, you can use that to adjust lighting and that should allow you to scan it.....straight up.
Glad you regular Vet caught it!!
