Female iguanas can reasorb eggs into their system.
This can happen under stressful conditions, lack
of a nesting area, etc. This doesn't always happen
though.
Last year, Vega$ reasorbed part of her clutch,
before laying the remainder of it. Her conditions
were stressed as she was boarded during her 7-8th
week at the vet's. When I returned from vacation in mid Oct.,
she was still holding on to her eggs, and soon
after I had her xrayed. Turns out, she had reasorbed
some of the eggs. She laid the remainder 28 in
mid December.
