First let me say she is doing fine now :o). Next let me say my first thing was to try to care for her myself (about 30 seconds worth) then I called the only local vet that I can trust, well he dosent know anything about herbs UGH, the vet we take Double D to is a 30 min drive. I then immediatly called them the vet that cares for the herbs is YOU GUESSED IT on VACATION. The other vet knew a little but NOT much admitedly. Im telling you this was SO SCARRY, she apparently had swallowed a piece of mushroom that was to big (i had cut lots up and put it in a bag apparently I missed one of the longer pieces). She was visiblly having trouble breathing, adn you could see bubbles comming from her nose, mouth, and those clear colored spots on teh side of her head (Dont know what those are called). We forced her mouth open carefully and you could see it I tried to reach it but didnt work. I grabbed a syrange and put a bit of water in it and slowly squirted it down her to get the mushroom to move. That THANKFULLY worked. She threw up a bit during this hole ordeal. The vet told us to watch her since we had gotten her to breath better and that if she wasnt getting better (as we spent about 5 mins on the phone with them and she was getting better then) to call even if it was after hours and the other vet who usually cares for cats and birds would do what she could or they would find someone that could. I was SCARED to death. Is there any CPR or First aid tips for Iggy's??????????? She then spent the next half hour wrapped in my sweater on my lap, then the next half our setting on the back of the couch, then about a half hour in the tub. I am NEVER again letting her have Mushrooms. Shes fine now, breathing fine and climbing. BOY I cant belive how attached I got to her since Ive only had her for about 2 months she sure bobbed her way into my heart. Any advice for HOPEFULLY NEVER AGAIN emergency care???
