It is better to use WHITE light for heating ( Basking spot ) then a red or any other color for that matter . Also you should NOT use any bulb that puts out visable light at night this includes any color black blue red or whatever as these will disturb there sleep cycle . The reason for using a WHITE light in a basking spot is that is what they can detect it with there third eye ( Pineal gland AKA Pineal eye ) . It is just natural .
