You CAN use fake plants...Definitely better than real ones due to potential toxicity issues and "black thumbs". HOWever, Squiggs will be dealing with sanity issues for a few days until he/she figues out that they are not edible. Just make sure that the plants are strong enough that they won't be ripped apart anyway. Add to that the simple fact that it's just more shrapnel in the handgrenade when it comes to cleaning...;)
