IMHO I have to agree with Xta here! Look at it this way, as humans we know that fresh food is always better for us than canned or frozen. So, it stands to reason that if this is the case for humans, the same applies to other animals as well.

We use frozen veggies as a supplement of sorts and always have one or two packages on hand in the event that we can't get to the grocery store in time. We only use fresh greens, never frozen or canned. Frozen greens thaw out to be very soggy and we have noticed that canned greens can be very high in sodium (something our vet said we need to be mindful of) not to mention they appear kind of slimy. !!ewwwww yuck!!

If we use the frozen veggies once a week in the "salad", then we don't do any type of vitamin or mineral supplementation. IF we use the frozen veggies twice or more, which is rare for us, then we do add a vitamin/mineral supplement to the food that day. Keep in mind that we are adding the thawed frozen veggies to a "salad" that has other fresh veggies in it. I use a supplement suggested by our vet which I decline to comment on because I do not like to advise others on such matters by giving out dose info in a public forum...but that's another post altogether lol

AS far as Brewer's Yeast or B1, again IMHO, after reading many articles on the subject I have found that NO ONE has given an exact amount of how much to add. The common phrase seems to be to "add a pinch" of either to the food. I have a small problem with this instruction as everyone's pinch is different. I'd rather err on the side of caution on this one and skip the whole mess altogether.

I look at it this way, we really don't feed our iguanas anything we wouldn't eat ourselves. So, frozen veggies are a rareity around here. Yes, I do keep some in the freezer for emergency situations but when I can buy fresh veggies and often get them cheaper than the frozen, I just skip the whole Brewer's Yeast/B1 issues altogether!!
