Almost every iguana that we have ever had come through the rescue program has had their spikes damaged in some way whether it be injury related or from improper shedding.
As to whether or not they will grow back, it depends on how badly damaged they are in the first place and the particular iguana involved.
My iguana, Hope has regenerated most of her spines that were broken off before we rescued her.
Essentially, in short, it depends on the health of the iguana and the extent of the damage. It can be a rather slow process at times so patience is your best virtue :)
