get him in a bath tub with a warm water/betadine mixture. You want the water to be the color of weak tea. Let him soak about 20 minutes & try to get a look at it.
VERY important that you take him to the vet before it gets infected ot he gets dry gangrene. He may need antibiotics or part of the tail removed.
What state are you in? Maybe I can recommend a herp vet if you dont have one.
