as far as i've ever been able to figure out, it's the ig version of purring ... at least it is when iZ does it! i've only heard it when his belly's full and he's nice + warm + the house is calm/quiet enough for him to snuggle with his head on my shoulder for a while before nite-nite time ... with iZ, it's a *very* quiet sound and it's not a steady, rythymic sort of thing ~ just a few clicks every now + then ... if i answer him, he'll reply with another click or 2 ...
and when i first heard it a few years ago, i couldn't find anyone else who knew what i was talking about and they would *not* believe me that it was *not* a respiratory infection ... i've since met others who *do* think of it as "happy noises" ...
