Both Mr D and I have stated similar concerns over and over again to no avail. People come back at us saying that it's important to answer these posts because people are coming here to get an idea whether or not they need to go to a vet before "wasting money unnecssarily beause someone else on the board may have already been through the same thing" (and yes, that is a direct quote that someone wrote to me).

I will say it again -we are not vets, if someone has a medical issue with their animal they need to call a vet first, not run to a message board. If they want to come to the board with it after contacting a vet that is ok but don't come here looking for answers or a quick fix.

Furthermore I will say this then get off my soap box -if someone follows medical adivce that they are given on a forum or website and the animal dies or is permanently damaged, the owner of the website/author of the post has just opened himself/herself up to a lawsuit. A sad but true fact in these times such as they are.

So, if people want to continue to play net doctor, then by all means do so but at your own risk and don't come crying when you get slapped with a suit.
