I have some experience with this drug.
I know that there are some differences in opinion about
the dosage.
Some people say 1-3 international unites per kilogram,
others say 1-5 international units per kilogram (ig that is :-)
Just make sure about in what stage your Ig is.
When your Ig has no eggs but follikels (that means that
there is no shell yet around the eggs) the overies can cramp
up and could rupture.
This drugs is normally used to help Ig's that need to lay
her eggs but do not have the strength left to do so.
The eggs should come out very quick after the drug is used.
But only if the eggs are readt to come out.
The overies have to be "open" for this drug to have any use.
Most Ig's won't respond if this is not the case.
But if they do and you are too early you could
create the rupture problem.
Also a site effect can be that the next time they
are gravid the overies will not produce the normal
hormon anymore so that they will lay eggs.
So you will need to administer the drug every time
she is gravid.
If you are sure that the eggs need to come out you can
start by giving her a dose of 2 international units
per kilogram. If she doesn't respond to that
you can give her a bigger dose.
Just a few more questions :
Did she already start digging?
Is she still eating?
Can you see the eggs in her belly?
Did you have an X-ray or ultrasound done?
If you have any more questions please let me
know
Good luck
Wendy
