I stopped at the store on the way home from work last night and bought some collard greens. I hadn't fed these to Lucy before. As soon as I walked in the room with one of the huge leaves in my hand she headed toward the edge of the cage. When I offered it to her, she grabbed it and started ripping and tearing and devouring it like she hadn't eaten in weeks! She loves them! I will make sure she gets plenty of these. I'm not sure why she was so exited about them. Her former owner didn't mention ever feeding them to her. could this have been natural instinct taking over? I gave her a bath after that and then she spent the rest of the evening on the back of the couch with me. I spent over an hours scrapping scales from her tail with my nails. It looks alot better now but is still very stiff (you can't even bend five inches of it. It feels like it would just snap off). The colored bands are visible all the way down to the end but it is dry like jerky and a bit darker in color. I've convinced myself that she will loose this portion one way or another. I'm sure the vet will tell me more. She loved having me scrape the scales off. I think we really bonded last night. She would occasionally turn her head to watch me then go back into a pleasure coma for awhile, then watch me again. It never seemed to bother her at all. She even let me play with her dewlap last night for the first time. Got to get ready for work now. I sure am going to miss her today! Russell.
