Testing for salmonella in your iguana is a waste of time, unless members of your family come up ill and are found to have been in contact with salmonella. Iguanas are carriers of salmonella (there's a large list of different types) and test results may show false positive even if your iguana is healthy.
I would suggest anyone who is thinking of testing their iguana for salmonella, do some indepth research before proceeding. Check the relationship between green iguanas and salmonella before making a decision on having your iguana treated. You might be surprised at what you find out.
If you own a green iguana, chances are, it has some type of salmonella, whether it's active or not. All types of reptiles are found to have some type of salmonella and treatment because a test shows signs of it, may not be the correct thing to do.
