RID is a PYRETHRIN product much more toxic than a PERMETHRIN product such as NIX.
NIX head lice shampoo a PERMETHRIN product (same active ingredient as in Pro Products Provent-a-mite)is safe and effective but MUST BE DILUTED!!
With proper disinfection, dilution of NIX no more than 1 treatment is necessary.

2 oz Nix to 3/4 gallon water....Remove and discard and never replace substrate such as wood chips, accessories like branches, food, water bowls must be disinfected in a bleach water solution, baked at 200 degrees for 3 hrs, or enclosed in a plastic bag tied shut and sit outside in the sun for a week . DO NOT ALLOW ANY INFECTED AREA TO COME INTO CONTACT WITH YOUR CLOTHING! Liberally spray down enclosure with the diluted NIX in a spray bottle paying particular attention to crevices, corners, and rims, place ig in tub ...liberally spray down, under and all around the ig minus the face (eyes, nares, mouth) Place a small amount of NIX diluted solution in a cup...using Q tips swab around eyes, mouth, nares. DO NOT GET IN EYES!!
Wait about ten minutes then THOROUGHLY RINSE IG OFF under RUNNING WARM WATER making sure to keep igs head in a downward position so it won't aspirate water.
Done...Mites no more
