and I really didnt know that the dog food was that big of a deal.My vet knows about it and never made a big deal of it.I have tried to avoid it, but he started on it at a young age, and really likes it.Know Im shure Im gonna catch more slack for that statement, but you also have to look at a few realities.I started him on monkey chow as a baby on the suggestion of the pet store I got him from.He liked it, but that store closed and I was unable to find it any longer. Then when I got my store is when he turned into a free roam lizard.I tried feeding him iggy diets, but he wanted nothing to do with it.When I took him home he started eating the dog food occasionally.I figured it was no big deal as he is looking better than ever.My vets never made a big deal of it either, but as far as vets go, we dont have many with a ton of rep. knowladge here.By the time I was knowladgeable enough to know better he was allready hooked. Now once again I understand it is my responsibility to make shure he doesnt eat the wrong diet,
but when I feed him collards and he occasionally ignores them, and ten minutes later jumps down to get the dog food, I never thought it would be better to make him go without food, than to allow him to eat the dog food.Once agin this isnt a constant thing, but is something he does.If it is that big of an issue, then I will definitely pull the dog food bowl up when he's down and just make him change his habbits, but like I said I wasnt aware it was that big of an issue.
This all just goes to show that even people who feel they are knowladgable about their pets can make mistakes, and its even more common with iggies.Thats why I am still glad I didnt sell them when I did have my store.
Thanks for the advice

: Could you keep Al at your store? At one of our local herp shops they had a huge male that they let free roam (they set up a basking site on top of a row of built-in snake cages) and he quickly became the store mascot. His name was Zues and was probably just as big as that beautiful male Harry's Dad has, he was certainly larger than my Launch Pad. This was great for educating customers about iguanas, and the reality prospects of just how big they can get was a great way to curb iggy sales. Zues was also good for business because people heard about him so came in the store to see him. I don't know how your store is set up but perhaps letting him bask by the front windows where people can see him from outside will actually increase your sales on smaller herps and supplies and that's something that you can both benifit from.
