Hi everyone .... thought I'd bounce this off the message board and see how others handle a situation like this.

In adition to taking in iggys ourselves, we also add our help when people are trying to place them. Specificly, over the past 6 months we have run into more than a few people with the "I know better than you" tude regarding igs. Some of the things we have encountered are : a woman who feeds her ig nothing but yogurt and mashed potatoes, wonders why the ig is brown but won't take it to the vet or follow the advice she asks for; a man who is insisting that his "full spectrum" Zoo Med (insert any other brand here as well) basking bulb has the essential UV because it says "full spectrum" on the box; a young (18 at best) kid who is housing 5 together and keeps wondering why some attack others but won't get the hint, etc. I could go on but I think you get the idea. When people lke this are trying to get rid of their ig, they ofcourse claim it's healthy (and vet care, well I already see how many "GO TO THE VET ASAP" type responces there are here so I won't even get into that). Anyway, trying to find a home for an ig, let alone a less healthy ig, is tough enough without these people passing on their advice on how the new person should be caring for the animal. When assisting with placing adoptions, how does everyone else deal with this? Do you pick the animal up and transport it yourself or do you have a frank discussion with the adoptive family before hand and let them now that the people/person giving up the ig wasn't caring for it properly and that they should follow the care sheet/info from a better source (we have several sources we give people)?
Any imput would be appreciated!
