when it comes to handling wild animals, people usually cover their eyes so they feel safer, kinda like "if i dont see them, they dont see me".
tame iguanas have shown to enjoy petting, and actually come up to the owners for "cuddling". same goes with other lizards, such as monitors, water and bearded dragons.
it all depends on what u think of your relationship with your iguana. does it let u handle it without any fuss? does its body become tense when handling and petting?
some say iguanas close their eyes 'cause they'r escared, and want to "shut u out", in their reptilian sort of way.
others say they lay back and "enjoy it" like puppies do, relaxing and closing their eyes.
both sides may tell the truth or not.
if ur iguana wasnt really enjoying it, it would tell u so with a tail whip or a bite, but some are too scared and just "play nice".
just do not over-do it, and see what happens.
in time, your ig will gain your trust, and u two will enjoy ieach other's company!
we would like to believe that they do like it....but sometimes we forget that they are WILD animals. time will tell.
just dont stress it too much ok?
GOOD LUCK! :-)
: Do iguanas like to be petted? When I pet mine on its back it closes its eyes. Does that mean it likes it or is scared?
