Iguana Joe gave some great suggestions! The only thing I can think to add is to watch the enclosure temp, humidity and make sure that the ig is getting a suffient amount of UV.
Brown can be an indication that the enclosure is not warm enough. A good investement is a digital thermometer, we picked one up at Radio Shack for about $20.00. During the day the ambient air temp never gets below 80* at night it gets somewhat, but not much lower. Our basking areas are somewhere around 90-98*. That way with multiple temps in the enclosure the ig can self regulate.
And, not to tell you something you already know but ... a hot rock will not boost the temp and should not be used for this purpose. Also, be careful of under the enclosure type heaters and if you use them, follow all directions carefully. I had a friend who was using one with Aspen shavings (which trap heat) and ended up with a fire!
