Not to spark controversy, but it only makes sense that an iguana will take advantage of animal protein, especially when young. Laws of nature dictate that bigger and stronger wins, (territory, females, small igs are a target for predators) so obviously an iguana taking additional protein should grow faster and
have a definate advantage over a strictly herbivorous counterpart. That said, I would believe that an iguana in the wild is not concrened with how his health will be in 10-20 years, it wants to live NOW. Incaptivity, with no predators to evade, no competition for food and territory, we should be more concerned with giving them a long and healthy life, and that means not taking the chance on animal protein, as we do not know how much will cause problems.
