Well if in fact Iguanas are herbivores like some belive and not omnivorous like myself and many other who have seen them in their natural habitat know to be true . I would suggest an experiment put the bird cage on the floor and open the door a herbivore ( as a lot of people belive iguanas are ) wont eat them .. RIGHT ? As for me I have seen iguanas in El Salvador eat a BABY ( non flying little fluffy thing ) bird right out of a nest . I have seen the eat bugs and grubs on there own . The fact is that iguanas are classified as omnivorous by everyone who has studded them in the WILD I am not saying my few weeks are a study but my eyes don't lie to me . The FACT is also that an iguana that is feed animal protein as a staple of there diet will have kidney and other problems . So where do go from here well we know that an iguana that eats a piece of chicken is not going to keel over and die so relax and don't panic . I belive that an animal in the wild knows what it needs to live and eats what not only it needs but what it can get . So I would not recommend feeding any animal protein of any kind to an iguana better safe then sorry .
