It may not exactly be "unhinging" but how do you differentiate that from "disarticulating"? They have nine flexible parts to their skull, and they do drop the bottom out of alignment since they can do that due to their extremely elastic ligaments (the bone-to-bone ones, or is that tendons? anyways...) Yeah, that one kinda stood out at me. So the bottom and top may not be completely disconnected due to the ligaments, but I think it's appropriate to say loosely that they are unhinging their jaws. Otherwise they couldn't take prey 1 to 1.5 times the widest part of their bodies.
