Hi....sorry, I don't have a scanner so I'll have to type this puppy. It's from our local paper.
FIRE BLAMED ON PET IGUANA
CHARLOTTE,NC---Fire-fighters have identified a scaly suspect in an early morning house fire on Sunday.
The likely culprit is a 4-foot long Iguana, that fire fighters believe knocked over a heat lamp to cause the fire. Firefighters found the iguana hiding in a bathroom in the smokey home.
Firefighters were searching for dogs that neighbors believed were inside. Rescuers didn't find dogs, but they rescued a large bullfrog in the living room.
"We've sort of come to the conclusion that the iguana got mad at the frog and tried to burn him out of the house," joked firefighter Adrean Cornette, who carried the pets to safety.
The fire caused about $20,000 damage and destroyed a bedroom, Capt. Rob Brisley said. The resident, a woman who lived alone, had gone out shopping. Neighbors helped the woman find a place to stay Sunday night.
In November 1999, a 3-foot long iguana ignited a fire that left a west Charlotte couple homeless and killed several pets, including a 5 foot long boa constrictor. An overturned heat lamp also caused that fire. (End of Article)
Gee...I guess we better make sure our guys are locked up before we go shopping huh? I leave Baby's cage open all day long so he can come and go as he pleases. I think I'll think twice about leaving it open while we are gone in the future! LOL J
