Salmonella can pass through a scratch because if they walk through their poops and have any bit of it on their nails when they scratch it can pass to you that way. Now--I've heard this, don't know if it's true or not. I don't know how long salmonella lives--like on their nails or body and stuff if they get any poop on them. Call a vet, even have him tested---can't hurt, and it'll give you peace of mind!
