but if you go to a couple of trustworthy sites and then feed him from those suggestions that should help you. melissa k's site has a good diet on it and jen swaffords site does too.
you may have to ask a large grocery store in your area to sell collard greens for you, a large store will get them in. i have to drive 30 min. to get my grocerys because the local stores wont carry what i need...i found a super walmart that was able to keep the collard, mustard and turnip greens in stock. some times it is just a matter of searching for the right store.
i also feed a variety of fresh veggies, with green beans, snow peas, orange squash and parsnips for staples.
a little fruit everyday helps with hydration too. i use cantaloupe, dried figs (his favorite),strawberries and raspberries mostly.
but honestly, the fresh greens are the most important thing you need to change.
good luck

: Everyone has different opinions as to what is good for iguanas and what isnt. Example- I go to one site and it says that you should include bok choy in an iggy's diet, then the next site says to never feed iggys bok choy! this is just an example, but you get the idea, right? argh! its so frustrating, I dont know what is right and what is wrong! could someone who knows alot about an iguanas diet plz plz plz tell me what my iguanas meals should consist of? Please go into detail, when I hand her dinner plate to her what should be on it? right now I am totally lost, I start feeding her one thing, then I read that I shouldnt be feeding her this...At the moment I'm feeding her some iggy pellets, kale, carrot, apple, some cabbage, some spinach, some lettuce ( i know that isnt great for her!) Its really hard to find stuff like collard greens and dandylion greens and such, I can never find any, so she is eating this un-nutritious crap, and I feel like a terrible mother not giving her the right foods that she deserves, at this rate she'll grow up to have a rubber jaw or something, that happened to my friend's iguana, it's jaw is all soft and rubbery feeling : ( And I'm sick of reading opinions as to what
: is good for her, then the next day reading that it isnt good for her.......So could someone please like, give me an iguana dinner recipie that I can feed my girl....then we'll both be happy...Even if the ingredients are hard to find, I'll look harder for them....Also, should I be sprinkling lizard calcium and vitamin powder on her food?
: (Right now you are probably thinking that its pretty scary that my iguana has to depend on me for its nutrition!) But anyways...sigh..I'm trying, and it would be really great if someone would share an ig recipie for a nutritious dinner.
: Thanx,
: Samantha
