It will take several months to even a year to completely tame your iguana. Like someone else has already said, your iguana is a wild animal and it will take a lot of taming to get your wild iguana to become a pet iguana.

As far as taming goes, take your time. Go slow and don't try to rush it. There are many different approaches to taming iguanas, but the majority of them stress that you should take your time with taming an iguana. Basically, your iguana doesn't trust you. You can't make an iguana suddenly begin trusting you overnight...it will take quite a while to build that trust.

As far as the commercial iguana food...most of them claim to be a complete and healthy diet for iguanas. Actually, there are numerous products that claim a variety of things that simply aren't true. Commercial iguana foods have not been thoroughly tested and most of them are full of ingredients that really aren't very nutritious (not to mention the fact that several of them are full of ingredients that are actually very harmful). Occasional is the key word...if you're going to offer a food that may not be completely suitable for your iguana, then an occasional feeding is fine. Basically, there are many better foods you could feed on a regular basis.

The best thing that I can suggest to you is to read as much as you can about iguana care. Check out as many websites as you can and read and learn as much as possible.

Good luck!
