Why don't you get you mom to take her for an xray (use a dog crate carrier). She can explain she is ig sitting and will pass the info to you. Give her a list of questions to take with her or tell her to pay close attention to what is wrong and what to do about it. Then you can call later when you get there & figure out what action to take. This way you will not feel guilty-- and if you are lucky, it will only be a sprain and you can sigh from relief. If it is a fracture, you'll know and I'm sure your Mom will do her best to follow the vet's instructions.

This would probably be my course of action. I did something similar when Slee had a seminal plug stuck. I took him to the vet, but my friend had to pick him up because I was going out of town. I called her to make sure he was okay.
