Thanks to those of you who posted regarding Bobbits hand injury. I'd love to respond to you each individually, but am running around trying to pack and get ready to leave etc.
Some of you said that it could be a sprain--and that since he's able to use it somewhat, it might not be a major break. I still want to take him to the vet just to make sure. I had an appointment today, set for three o'clock, but some stuff happened at work and I had to cancel it.
When I called them just now, they told me that no doctor will be in the office tomorrow until 10:00 am! That's exactly when I will be on my way to the airport for our weekend trip... what a mess!
Anyway, what I am now wondering and hoping to get some feedback on is this:
Do you think I could take him in on Monday morning first thing when I get back?
I don't know what else to do since he wouldn't be able to see the doctor until so late in the morning. If it IS broken, would going four days without seeing the vet make it worse? Might it start to heal wrong? (ALthough, since he lets me touch it, move it, and probe around trying to find the sorest spot, I highly doubt it is like his wrist is broken in two or something. I suspect a sprain, or at worse, a hairline fracture.) Should I try to put ice on it tonight?
While we are away, Bobbit is going to be iguana-sat by my mom who lives 80 miles away. We're headed up there tonight to "train" her (we've trained her before, so this will just be to brush up on here "iguanaese") before we fly out in the morning. I suppose I could have her take him to the vet, although I'm not sure how well she'd handle carrying him in and all. Plus, she couldn't answer all the vet's questions about his diet, activity, uv lights etc.
Do you think it could wait until I took him to the vet on Monday? Or should I try and see if my mom could take him in for me? Oh! So much to decide before we leave!
He is still acting otherwise normal, eating, pooping (and how!) and is quite active still.
Any insights as to what my next move should be would be greatly appreciated!
We're walking out the door to take Bobbit to my mom's place, but I'll check the forum when we get there to see if any of you responded.
Thanks SO MUCH for being there for me when I need you.
Love,
Diana--who's nothing but a crazy basket-case full of worry for her green little limping lizard
