For now, we'd like to see it end, but in the future when things are under controlled levels, then captive bred iguanas could be started, in limited numbers and with a higher price. It's up to us to help control the responsible numbers of iguanas released into the public, no one else is going to do it.
Let me tell you a little story about a different item but can be related.

I enjoy fishing and use to do it just about every weekend in TX. As all of you know, Fish and Game has laws set up for how many fish you can keep and what they're lengths can be. This is set for controlling the population of fish in any given lake. Now if you respect the law, you'll follow the rules, but many people don't do that and the fish population in these lakes suffer for it. Nothing could really be done about it, due to the fact that the state was short game wardens. So the Bass fishing people decided to promote catch and release to try to bring the numbers back up in the lakes. It worked 100% on most lakes, but if the lake was located close to a major city, the numbers were lower around 40%. This was due to city dwellin' fishing people who didn't care. They just wanted fish no matter what....law or no law, they'd take any size fish they wanted.
Now, the point I'm trying to make is.....nothing is going to change unless WE, the iguana owners group together and force change. We can do two things.....Sit on our butts and do nothing and let the selling of iglets continue and let igs die or be abandoned in large numbers OR we can fight to change this....to limit the numbers and get this problem under control. The choice is up to all of us....do any of us enjoy hearing iglets or adult iguanas dying because people get them that don't know anything about caring for them?? Or to see 50 iglets crammed into a 10 gallon tank at a pet store OR a reptile show? I think NOT.
Please consider this.....
Thanks
HD
