It is true that there are some young people out there who know what they're doing, but not all of them do. Most of the kids out there who see little iguanas in petstores have no idea how to care for them, and just want a cool pet no one else they know has. Then it grows into a 5ft monster(if it survives that long), they neglegt it just because they don't know how to handle it. But yes, i agree not all are bad. I too researched for a long time before i got my first iguana when i was 10. She just died last month. Not nearly as old as they can get, but her death was an accident(injested insecticide from the yard, i fed her dandylion greens from outside, and didn't know my grandpa had sprayed them).... so i guess its just up to their parents really.. making sure they have the proper knowledge before they buy them for their kids.
