The dark color on the top of the head is just a marking, I think it has to do with the origin of your IG. I think that it is the Mexican *strain* of the green iguana, does yours have (or used to have) "horns" on the tip of his nose?
And is her head "not as green" or a darker color than the rest of her body? Did he always have that dark color on his head? or did it just "appear"? if it just popped up out of nowhere then it is most likely a bruise and that explains the frequesnt sheddings, If not then its just his markings. A bruise takes quite a while to get rid of.
