Well, I think that our trip to the vet will be a good thing, I just hope that everything turns out ok. I really want to help this animal get healthy and enjoy a good life. The ribs showing concerned me, but I didnt want to say anything to the girl that is taking care of him, mainly didn't want to hurt her feelings right before I took him. I have decided to take him this wednesday, instead of waiting until the weekend. I just want to get him on a better diet as soon as possible. I would take him immediately, but I just want to wait till I have a few days off from work to really watch him, and help him get adjusted to the new home. Tomorrow night I am going on a shopping spree for a few heating pads, a basking lamp, and enough wood to build him another perch. Also will be picking up a space heater to raise the temp in his room. Looks like that means I will have to build a cage around the space heater too, since I dont want to risk him getting burned!!
Well, I guess I will just have to wait and see what the Vet has to say about his current state of well being. I sure hope everything goes ok!!
And... On the subject of his tail, he lost it some time ago. It is growing back, and looks to be nice and fat at the base. Hopefully the Vet will have some insight on that too.
Thanks for the help and concern.

: When you first posted about this person having this iguana,....I DID catch a few warning signs but didn't draw attention to them. I wanted to wait until you adopted this iguana before explaining the problems I caught from reading your post.
: As I said before....90% of ALL pet store employee's DO NOT know what they are talking about!! I figured there was some deep concerns for the well being of this iguana.
: First off, you're right....get rid of the litter ASAP. I just hope there isn't internal problems from it and there just maybe. Second, as someone has posted, rib showing can be a number of things and automaticly I would suggest a fecal sample be done as soon as possible on your new iguana. This will rule out worms and then I would suggest focusing on diet. Get a weight of this iguana at the Vet and also at home. You can do this by standing on a scale holding the iguana, then stand alone on the scale and read it. subtract the difference and you have a rough idea on weight. Watch this for the next couple of months. Also watch the base of the tail....if the upper area just on either side of the ridge is sunken.....your iguana is losing alot of weight and needs medical attention ( most likely it's serious enough for a Vet to take over treatment)
: If your iguana doesn't like water, you can use newspapers in the litter box.
: Best wishes, keep us posted
