i use a heat(aka: infrared) lamp to warm up iZ's basking spots ... just make sure you use a porcelin (sp?) fixture .... both are $5-10 at a hardware store (or K-Mart prob'ly) i use red instead of white just so it's not so glaringly bright .... (don't use "spot" lights ... they focus the heat/light to one point too much)
i used a good ol' people humidifier last year (here in Iowa) with no problems .... probably ALOT cheaper AND better made than a reptile specific one .... i'd go with a cool mist one, just so there's no steam to worry about burning curious igs .... as far as placement, a bottom corner would work just fine ... or you can get creative and save some space and put it outside the enclosure and run a plastic "pipe-line" to the inside .... (that worked for me AFTER considerable trial and error .... :) )
i'd guess that most lights go on the ceiling (or higher up anyway) just to prevent them from shing in igs or their people's faces ....
oh - ceramic heat emitter placement .... definitely UP high and outside the enclosure where merlin can't get to it .... they're very expensive tho ... i personally don't see why they're worth all that extra money when a heat lamp works just as well if not better .... (but maybe someone will come along and educate me ?!?!? *grin*)
the "night-lights" serve no real purpose and i think Roman covered the other lights .... (i DO have a 12" UV light on a timer hung over iZ's
favorite basking spot tho ....)

did i ramble enough yet????

*hi little Merlin!!!!*

:P + :)
