It gets too hot and causes the enclosure to overheat, yes.
If the animals do not come into contact with it and there's plenty of ventilation, it's ok.
Generally though, wiremesh or glass is better.
: I was just in a new pet store in town and they had two of their juvenile iguanas in a very large metal watering trough. It had plenty of room and the actual cage set-up was fine but I was wondering if the metal could cause problems... I know amphibians should never come in contact with any metal. Is this also true with iguanas?
